My Story

“I want to learn more about my culture and incorporate that into my business.”
Kyla Horsnall-Duke worked for a large company her entire 20’s. Kyla decided to take the plunge and start her own home-based business. That way she could be home to raise her two children. At first she wasn’t quite sure what she wanted to do. According to Kyla: “After some research and ALOT of YouTube tutorials, I started making personalized tumbler cups. I also started making Christmas Ornaments and Wood Signs.” Kyla used her people skills that she had learned while working in retail to help her build a business. She got her inspiration to start a business from her grandmother because she was a strong woman and helped Kyla’s single mother to raise her.

Her grandmother was a homemaker, and this was something that Kyla admired. She wanted the opportunity to have a home business so that she could be there to raise her two children at home. Her other big inspiration for her business is her husband who is a silent, behind the scenes partner and helper. What Kyla really loves about her business is the ability to create someone else’s vision and that they trust her with their design when it comes to the tumblers. She also loves all the support that she receives from other small business owners online. “It really is businesses supporting other businesses. It’s a very positive group to be a part of,”  according to Kyla. KCDDesigns2020 ships for no cost in Regina where she is based out of and Kyla can drop off or pick up in Moose Jaw.
